Extra Story: "Cherry Blossoms in the Spring"

(Kaoru is carrying her child, Kenji, and a smiling Kenshin is watching them)

Kaoru (realizing somebody had come): Megumi-san! Over here!

(Megumi walks towards them. They are sitting amidst the cherry trees. There's food and beverages. Behind Kenshin, there's a sword or a cane)

Megumi: Long time no see. Um, and where are the other people?

Kaoru: Misao-chan and her companions haven't arrived yet. And Yahiko said he would come after the training.

(Megumi bows slightly to Kenshin)

Megumi: Good afternoon, Ken-san. How are you feeling?

Kenshin: I'm feeling pretty good, thank you.

(the fading cross-shaped scar is shown)

Megumi (smiling): Indeed it seems so.

(Misao and Aoshi arrive. Misao is in a informal Japanese attire, whereas Aoshi is wearing a formal Western clothing plus his good and old Cajun trenchcoat ^_^)

Misao (waving to everybody): 'AFTERNOON! Here we are!

Everybody: Misao-chan!

Misao: Hullo!

Misao (smiling widely): What a wonderful thing, everybody gathered at the Mount Ueno to see the cherry blossoms in this wonderful weather!

Kenshin (smiling): Misao-dono is as cheerful as usual.

Misao (flashes a sign): Yep, I'm doing just fine!

Aoshi (looking sideways to Kenshin): --- I've gotten the information you asked.

(Kenshin snaps into attention)

Aoshi: About Saitou Hajime.

(a man wearing a coat is standing in a snowy place)

Aoshi: Looks like he's in Hokkaido now... I couldn't get what his mission is this time, but it's certain that he's doing fine as usual.

(Saitou is smoking a cigarette. His eyes aren't shown.)

Aoshi: ... what happened, have you decided to have a final match with him?

Kenshin: Not at all... if he's fine, that's all that matters. After all, now he's the man whose life is most surrounded in perils...

Aoshi: ... true indeed.

(Yahiko arrives, and behind him is Tsubame)

Yahiko: Hey!

Everybody: Yahiko!

Yahiko: I went to the Akabeko and brought sake and some side dishes. And took the occasion to bring Tsubame along.

Kaoru (giggling): Took the occasion?

Yahiko (annoyed): What are you saying, huh? Shut up.

Misao: So, is everybody here?

Kaoru: I think so. To tell the truth, I wanted to call one more person, but we don't know his whereabouts, so...

Megumi: Oh yeah, that rooster head!

Yahiko (producing an envelope): Oops, I had almost forgotten. Here's a letter that rooster-head sent us. (I've found just before leaving the dojo)

(Everybody except Aoshi is surprised)

Misao: What?! Open it, open it!

Kaoru: Kenshin, read it!

Megumi: Where's that idiot been?

(Kenshin starts reading the letter, surrounded by everyone)

"Hey, it's been a long time, huh? How's everybody? Nobody dead yet?
I'm having quite a fun here in Mongolia right now."

Everybody (surprised and indignant ^_^): MONGOLIA??!?!!?

(a bearded Sano is riding a horse (with a letter "Aku" ^_^) raising lots of sand. He's grinning with that fishbone in the corner of his mouth.)

"After that departure, I took a tour to America,
then to Europe and then to Arabia and I've had a very good time so far.
I'll be around here for a little while and then I'll go back to Japan,
so get a delicious bowl of white rice and miso soup upon my arrival, ok?"

(Kenshin smiles and sighs.)

"See ya!"

Megumi: THAT IDIOT MEANS TO CROSS THE ENTIRE WORLD?!

Misao: WHAT THE HECK IS HE THINKING?!

Yahiko: DOES HE INTEND TO BE AN ADVENTURER?!

Spring of the 16th year of the Meiji Era -------

------- and extremely peaceful days ......

(the end)

Note from Serizawa: There are quite a lot of dialogues where the person who's talking doesn't appear, so I matched with the most probable character. I can be wrong, though, so be warned! ^_^
